The Guideline for the Development of Rajabhat Dhonburi Students Characteristics in Accordance with the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy

Abstract
The research objectives were to: 1) analyze projects and activities implemented in accordance with the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy by Dhonburi Rajabhat University students, 2) analyze the students’ current learning methods and 3) propose guidelines for developing the students’ character conforming to the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy. Forty main informants included 28 students and 12 teachers. This qualitative research instruments were 5 sets of data collecting forms including 2 guideline questions for interviewing students and teachers, the guideline questions for group discussion, data and information recording form, and the observation. The qualitative data was analyzed inductively. The results were as follows: 1) The students implemented 9 projects/ activities conforming to the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy. The projects and activities included (1) Wai-Khru (paying respect to teachers), (2) the Freshmen Conserving Thai Good Manners and Cultures Project, (3) the world opening activities project, (4) the Ninth Pikul Games (internal sport event), (5) life quality orientation program for new students, (6) Dhonburi Rajabhat academic event, (7) the Buddhist Candle Procession event, (8) creating booth for congratulating graduates (9) sibling relation event. 2) Students’ learning through these activities occurred as results of the knowledge transfer, conducting activities in real-life situations, research for knowledge, exchanging knowledge and experiences, learning by trial and error, and learning style both individually and in groups. 3) The guidelines for developing students’ character conforming to the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy were to set policies focusing on holistic student development, set a management system linking between academics and student activities, link the quality assurance system with the development of desirable graduate characteristics by developing knowledge and morality through various projects/activities. The processes fostered 3 characteristics: sufficiency, reasonableness, and good immunity based on knowledge and morality.
