Education and Learning resource Development Ecological impact Caused by Global warming Conditions by Participation of Community
The title of
the research was “ Education and Learning Resource Development Ecological
impact Caused by Global warming Conditions by Participation of Community : Case
Study of Mu 9, Ban Khun Samut Chin, Laem Fa Pha
Sub-district, Phra Samut Chedi District, Samut Prakan Province.” It aimed to encourage and
develop the Ban Khun Samut Chin
Community to serve as an outdoor natural learning resource for people who went
interested in mangrove forest resources along the Gulf of Thailand, which had
been destroyed by humans and natural disasters. Located along the Gulf of
Thailand, the Ban Khun Samut Chin Community had been seriously affected by coastal
erosion. This research involved the
participatory action research process, and the learning resource development
process consisted of area surveys, workshops, field trips, transfer of
knowledge, practice, and evaluation.
The research findings suggested that the Ban Khun Samut Chin Community
had the potential to be developed as a natural learning resource. Elements of
the learning process included personnel in charge of transferring knowledge,
the diversity of plants in the mangrove forests and aquatic animals along the
shoreline of abundant and destructed mangrove forests, as well as local
knowledge and wisdom that had been passed down from preceding generations.
Furthermore, they included preparation of systematic nature trails and
preparation of activities to boost learners’ environmental awareness accordingly.
The learning process allowed learners to share ideas and experience with
personnel who dealt with transferring knowledge and raising learners’ awareness
of the importance of the mangrove ecosystem along the Gulf of Thailand, which
was important for the prevention of coastal erosion. Apart from creating the
aware of the value of local natural resources among community members and
establishing a good relationship between the community and government agencies
in the development of an ecotourism site, this learning resource development
process could serve as a model for other communities that were experiencing
destruction of mangrove forest resources and had been affected by coastal
erosion.
