Community participation for development of flood prevention measures by Phasichareon District Community, Bangkok
This research
of “Community participation for development of flood prevention measures by
Phiasicheareon District Community, Bangkok” has purposes to 1) to study on the
problem and the resolution of flood in Phasichareon District 2) to
implementation measure in case of flood 3) to study on the guideline to the
flood resolution which is in accordance with the needs and Phasichareon
Community’s problem, during 3 phases which are; before the flood, during the
flood and after the flood, The integration research method between the
quantitive and qualitative research was used to study at the target areas of Phasichareon District
Community which are Ladphachee Commuinty, Bampen Community, Moo. 6 Ruamjal
Community and Tapan Community. The researcher collects data by employing
questionnaires request for personal information and interview self interview
with the sample group and Global Positioning System: GPS, Subsequently, the
quantitive and quality data were used to be synthesized for the answer of this
study’s purposes.
The result of
research found that genera landscape of the 4 communities mostly is residential
area and low land, Consequently, the communities face with flood during rainy
season. The cause of flood can be summarized as follows; firstly, flood due to
heavy raining around Chaoparya River area and subsequently to over capacity for
the low land area to carry such rain, secondly, flood due to heavy raining
causing over drainage capacity of the canal especially in high density
residential area, The flood prevention measures generally is to supply foods
and other necessary kits for living and coordinate with the president of
community board to dredge drainage way or canal together with set up refugee
camp for those people whom affected by the flood. With regard to the guideline
to flood resolution in accordance with the Phasichareon Communities’ needs and
problems during 3 phases which are before the flood, during the flood and after
the flood, the Communities arranges meeting to exchange idea and find the
guideline to manage communities’s flood which are; lesson learnt from flood in
year 2011 and its guideline to manage the flood including communities’
guideline. The researcher found that the Communities’ participation for
consideration of flood management recommendation is another way to enhance
effectiveness of assistance, reduce the risk and the effects from flood.
